The good man is around

Brig Gen Sharif Aziz, psc (retd), 9th Batch (1962-68)Faujdarhat Cadet College
Abdullah was born in the late forties, though like most of us, he would love to claim to have been born in the early fifties. He was amongst some of the tallest yet tiny little boys who joined our batch in East Pakistan Cadet College in the year 1962. Being tall, tough and hefty, Abdullah assumed the title of 'Adu Bhai', sort of guardian to all of us. But as time passed, by the end of the 5th or 6th year, many of us had surpassed him in height & structure. By that time he had changed radically and came to be known as 'Bishwa Premik ' loved by all juniors and seniors alike in the college. Abdullah had some kind of repentance, not being able to join his classmates in the same batch while enrolling in the Army in 1968. He joined a little later. However, while in the Army he excelled more in looking after welfare of others, than in profession, taking care of friends & foes alike. Till now one would look for Abdullah, if someone's address, whereabouts etc have to be traced out accurately. Abdullah was known as a moving dictionary or encyclopedia and is now comparable to a Wikipedia! He retired early and thought of making fortune in a far distant dreamland, known as Americas. In pursuit of the dream Abdullah went through much tribulations and at the end saw Triumph and that's how he is here with us today after long 20 years. All of us have passed the major portion of life. So has Abdullah. But look at the shine and glow in his face! Here is a good man called Abdullah. May Allah give him, as well as us, long life to cherish our bonds of friendship and love kindled long 45 years ago.
