Jamaat in parliament again?
The story of the Jamaat denying its anti-liberation role in 1971 disgusted me to no end. It sickens me to think that those who knowingly performed the horrific acts of collaborating with Pakistan in 1971 still walk on our land and now want to enter the general elections yet again! We cannot afford to repeat that mistake!
My generation didn't witness the independence war- but the hatred and anger I feel towards the al-Badr Bahini is no different from the generation that did. YOU let them enter the parliament before because we were too young to vote now please spare us the torture for the second time around.
Why do we even waste our time listening to people like Ali Ahsan Mojaheed who (According to The Daily Star 10.26.07) was the chief of the infamous al-Badr Bahini and not only helped the Pakistan army carry out massacres, looting and rape but also led the killers of renowned academics, litterateurs, doctors, engineers, journalists and other eminent personalities with a view to making the nation intellectually crippled. He should never be forgiven because he betrayed his motherland.
My question to you is how can you let them walk free? And how can you even allow them to consider themselves worthy of mentioning when it comes to our next general elections. How?
What shocks me even more is that the Jamaat tries to “defend” Islam let's ask them how Islam allowed them to do what they did in '71. How can such hypocrites be allowed to live peacefully in society? I really just don't understand.
My request is directed towards those of you who saw and fought in the war and believed in our freedom in 1971. Please speak up and do something. These people are mocking YOU and making fun of the war we paid a heavy price for. We must never forget what we had to go through in 1971 and the war criminals are to blame.
The Jamaat is nothing but a blot on civility and you freedom fighters have let it go this far, so please end it. The time is now. Please do something for our sake, the future leaders of Bangladesh.
