Another accused Held in Satkhira

Police arrested another accused in landless people's leader Saifullah Laskar murder case at Thanaghata village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night. The arrestee is Abu Sayeed alias 'Nak Kata' Sayeed, 40, son of Abul Khair of the village. Police produced him before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court with a prayer for seven days' remand yesterday. The court sent the accused to jail and fixed January 7 for hearing on the prayer. Police arrested Champaful Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Mozammel Haque in the case on December 29. Saifullah Laskar, 63, son of Shamsuddin Laskar of Katia Laskarpara in Satkhira town, was killed by unidentified assailants near his residence at around 3:30am on December 5. Local people took out several processions, formed human chains and held rallies in the town demanding arrest and punishment of the persons responsible for the killing of the landless people's leader.
