RU BCL council ends, new unit elected

Awal Kabir Joy and Mazedul Islam Apu were elected president and general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Rajshahi University (RU) unit at its council held on the campus on Wednesday. The other executives of the new committee are vice- president Redwan Ahmed Shuvro, joint secretaries Abu Hossain Bipu and Fuwad Hasan Murad, and organising secretary Shamima Akhter Ila. After announcement of the election results, the new committee led by the president and general secretary met Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan and senior teachers of the university. Welcoming the new RU BCL leaders, Mayor Liton urged them to stay united against the anti-liberation forces and free the campus from Shibir politics. RU VC Prof Abdus Sobhan asked the new BCL leaders to concentrate on studies and launch a campaign against evil politics. The new leaders also placed wreaths on the portrait of Ban-gabandhu, grave of Shaheed Shamsuzzoha and the university Central Shaheed Minar. Later, the RU BCL leaders led a victory procession on the campus and addressed a rally where they vowed to free the campus from Shibir politics.
