US President Barack Obama has very rightly said -“There must be a sustained effort to listen to each other; to learn from one another; and to seek common ground”. Appreciating the need for sharing global opinions on common human welfare and development issues, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in collaboration with the US State Departments has arranged an online conversation under the title - “Global Pulse 2010”, a three-day virtual event aimed at bringing together thousands of people from around the globe to discuss the world's pressing challenges and envision solutions. This 72-hour global Internet Chat commencing from March 29, 2010 will provide a participant the opportunity to get his/her views heard on a variety of topics, from women's empowerment to global health, and from economic opportunity to climate change issues. Highlighting the importance of the Global Pulse 2010, the USAID Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah said - “To meet our collective challenges, we must take advantage of new technologies that allow us to engage in dialogue with individuals and communities from around the globe”. While extending hearty congratulations to USAID for sponsoring the Global Pulse 2010, I sincerely wish its overall success towards accomplishing the anticipated goal.
