Jabbarer Boli Khela begins

The century-old legendary Jabbarer Boli Khela and a three-day Baishakhi fair began at the Laldighi Maidan in Chittagong yesterday. Banglalink is sponsoring this event for the second consecutive year. Director and Head of News of Channel I Shykh Seraj inaugurated the programme while Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury was the chief guest. Md Moniruzzaman, commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police, and Bishwajit Paul, regional commercial head of Banglalink, were present as special guests. Jabbarer Boli Khela is a traditional wrestling competition and is one of the oldest traditions of the port city. It is held in the first month of the Bangla year, Baishakh and the sporting event always takes place at Laldighi Maidan.
