Two cases filed against BNP men at Pallabi
Two separate cases were filed yesterday regarding the clash between Awami league and BNP activists at Pallabi in the city on Friday.
Atiqul Islam, general secretary of Ward No. 6 Awami League, filed a case, accusing 78 BNP leaders and activists, including two ward councillors, for ransacking his office and his brother's shop.
Sub-Inspector Yakub Ali of Pallabi Police Station filed another case, accusing the same leaders and activists of BNP for assaulting police and creating a bar to discharging their duties.
Police on Friday detained about 78 BNP activists during a clash between Awami League and BNP that left 25 people injured at Mirpur-6.
The clash ensued as both the organisations brought out processions in the same area at the same time.
Police produced the arrestees before a Dhaka court yesterday where 73 leaders, including the two councillors, and activists got bail while the five others were sent to jail.
