7 killed in road accidents
Seven people were killed in separate road accidents across the country in the last two days.
UNB reports: A Kuwaiti expatriate and his elder brother were killed and two others were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus near Ghoshbag in Savar yesterday morning.
The dead, identified as expatriate Zulhash, 38, and his elder brother Shukur Ali, 40, were going to Dinajpur in a microbus.
Their cousin Nazrul and microbus driver Mostafa were seriously injured.
Another report adds: A police constable was killed and three other cops were injured as a truck rammed into a CNG-run autorickshaw on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Nazira Bazar in Comilla early yesterday.
The dead was identified as Nurul Islam, 50, a constable of Devpur camp under Burichang Police Station.
The accident took place when a Dhaka-bound truck rammed into the CNG-run autorickshaw carrying a patrol team of police, leaving Nurul Islam dead on the spot and injuring the others.
The injured, identified as ASI Abul Kashem, constable Sahidul Haque and Abdul Latif, were rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
Our correspondent in Satkhira adds: Two people, including a 7-year-old boy, were killed in separate road accidents in the district yesterday.
Quoting local people, police said a Khulna-bound truck from Satkhira crushed Zubayer, 7, under its wheels while he was crossing the Satkhira-Khulna highway in Shakdah area.
In another accident, a Satkhira-bound bus knocked an unidentified woman while she was crossing the road.
A correspondent in Natore adds: An elderly person was killed in a road accident on Natore-Pan highway at Dasgram of Baraigram upazila in the district on Monday noon.
The victim was identified as Kurban Ali, 60.
The accident took place when a speeding human hauler knocked him down while he was crossing the road.
A correspondent in Kishoreganj adds: A man was killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Jagannathpur under Bhairab upazila on Sunday night.
Following the accident, agitating locals ransacked 20 buses on the road and blocked the road around three hours.
The victim was identified as Abbas Uddin, 55.
The accident took place at around 11:00pm as a Sylhet-bound bus from Dhaka crushed Abbas under its wheels while he was crossing the road.
