Fee hike at JNU protested

Samajtantrik Chhatra Front yesterday protested a hike in the semester fee for the students at the Jagannath University, a press release said. During a procession and rally on the campus, front leaders said fees for sports activities, donations, cultural funds as well as other categories were doubled while the students are not receiving any extra facilities. In a written statement, they said despite paying increased charges, the students do not get any opportunities to take part in sports activities. The statement signed by General Secretary Masud Rana further said there has been no improvement in the medical and transport facilities also. They demanded immediate withdrawal of the new hike. Central committee's office secretary Imran Habib, convener of the university branch Shariful Chowdhury and general secretary Masud Rana, among others, spoke at the rally, the press release added.
