Birth centenary of Robi Niyogi today

Today is the 100th birth anniversary of comrade Robi Niyogi, an anti-British movement veteran and organiser of the Liberation War. The Committee for the Celebration of Robi Niyogi's Birthday will hold a discussion and a cultural programme at 5:00pm today at the Shilpakala Academy on the occasion. Born in 1910 in Sherpur district, Robi Niyogi was one of the key figures in Bhawali, Nankar, Tonko and Tebhaga movement. He had spent 34 years in jail for his involvement in various movements. He breathed his last in 2002.
