Frigate Purchase Case
Judgement on Hasina's petition May 18
The High Court (HC) yesterday fixed May 18 for delivering judgement on a petition by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for quashing the proceedings against her in the frigate purchase corruption case filed during the regime of BNP-Jamaat alliance government.
After final hearing on the petition, an HC bench of Justice Md Shamsul Huda and Justice Abu Bakar Siddiquee set the date for verdict.
This court in separate verdicts quashed proceedings of eight corruption cases against the prime minister in March and April.
The now defunct Bureau of Anti-Corruption (Bac) filed the case with Tejgaon Police Station on August 7 in 2002 against Hasina and five others on charge of damaging around Tk 747 crore of the state exchequer in purchasing a frigate from South Korea.
