‘Support trial of killers of teachers, intellectuals’
National Front of Teachers and Employees (NFTE) yesterday urged the world teachers' community to give moral support to the trial of the killers of the teachers and intellectuals during the War of Liberation in 1971.
NFTE, an organisation of the pro-Awami League non-government teachers and employees, made the call at a press conference at the National Press Club in the city.
In a written speech NFTE chief coordinator Prof Quazi Faruque Ahmed said, “This is an appeal to the teachers and all concerned with education of all nations of the world through the good offices of the teachers and education staff organisations who represent them.
“A section of civil collaborators of the Pakistani military junta committed crimes against humanity in the name of religion and in support of the occupation forces.
“The present government has initiated trial of the killers of teachers and members of the intelligentsia during the War of Liberation in 1971.
“More than half a million teachers and employees of Bangladesh appeal to the world teaching community for moral support to the trial,” Qazi Faruque said.
