A High Court (HC) bench yesterday rejected the bail petition by former BNP deputy minister Abdus Salam Pintu in the 2001 Narayanganj blast case. The bench of Justice Siddiqur Rahman Miah and Justice Krishna Devnath rejected the petition after hearing arguments from both the sides. The blast took place near the Awami League office in Narayanganj on June 16, 2001, which left 20 people dead and scores of others including former AL lawmaker Shamim Osman, injured. Pintu was shown arrested in this case on November 6, 2009.
