Food minister warns officials
Food Minister Abdur Razzaque yesterday warned the officials concerned of punitive actions if any irregularities are found in the process of procuring rice in the current Boro season.
"You must maintain transparency and make the procurement a success in time. Rice quality and weight must be accurate. Actions will be taken if any irregularities are found," he said.
He was addressing a meeting of the district food officials at the Department of Food on Boro procurement.
He said timely supply of agricultural inputs and subsidies in fertilisers and diesel has resulted in a bumper boro crop this year, and there will be no problem in making the procurement a success.
