Judge gives deposition

A joint sessions judge who had earlier recorded confessional statement of a Harkatul Jihad (Huji) member, gave his deposition before a Dhaka court yesterday in the Ramna Batamul carnage case. Judge Kaniz Akhter Nasrina Khanam of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 recorded statement of former Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Waliul Islam and later he was cross-examined by the defence lawyers. In his deposition, Waliul said that he had recorded confessional statement of Huji member Arif Hassan Sumon on January 18 in 2008. In his confession, Sumon admitted his guilt willfully.
