Outlaw killed in 'shootout’

An outlaw was killed in a 'shootout' between his cohorts and police in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia early yesterday. The deceased was identified as Abdul Alim, 32, son of late Nuruddin Biswas of Kalabaria village in the upazila. Alim was the regional leader of outlawed Gono Bahini, police said. A team of Detective Branch and Mirpur police raided a banana orchard at Kalabaria village around 3:15am following information that Alim and his men were holding a meeting there.
