Policy needed for freedom of press
Speakers at a roundtable yesterday stressed the need for formulating a policy to ensure freedom of press in the country.
Freedom of press is the prime prerequisite to ensure people's right to know. So specific policy is a must to protect freedom of press, they said.
Journalism Training and Research Initiative (Jatri) organised the roundtable at its conference room in the city, said a press release.
Journalist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury moderated the programme while ATN Bangla chief adviser Saiful Bari, The Daily Adhinayak editor Muzammil Husain Monju, Institute of Governance Studies (IGS) director Barrister Mznzoor Hasan, Jatri Head of Programme Jamil Ahmed, among others, also spoke.
They said training and capacity building activities are important for journalists to assure good governance and proper law should be implemented to assure security for journalists, they said.
Jatri celebrated its first anniversary on the occasion.
