‘Exempt NSU from tax’
The North South University Foundation and its governing body yesterday demanded that the government exempt the university from all kinds of taxes.
Chairman of the foundation MA Kashem made the demand at a meeting with editors of national dailies and chief executive officers of television channels on the university's own campus in the city.
He said the owners of the university have not taken any money since its establishment back in 1993. However, a large campus has been established for the university with the money saved since its inception and bank loans.
Kashem said the university started its journey with only 139 students in three programmes but today the number has risen to around 10,000.
