Family of Subedar Major Nurul Islam gets Tk 10 lakh

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) yesterday gave Tk 10 lakh to the family of Subedar Major Nurul Islam, who was killed during the BDR carnage last year. BDR Director General (DG) Maj Gen Mainul Islam handed over the cheque for the amount to Nurul's wife Ayesha Begum at the former's office, says a press release. Nurul Islam, who hailed from Laxmipur, joined BDR in 1972 and served the border guards in different capacities. He left behind his wife, one son and four daughters.
