Youth killed in city road accident
A youth was killed in a road accident in front of Dhaka College yesterday, which triggered a violent protest by agitating students of the college who vandalized at least ten vehicles.
Road communication also remained suspended for half an hour on the Mirpur Road.
Witnesses said an Asad Gate bound bus of Anik Paribahan from Azimpur knocked Mohammad Selim, 24, down while he was crossing the road at around 8:00pm.
They said the injured Selim, resident of city's Sokrabad, died on the spot within few minutes as none took him to hospital while the bus escaped the scene.
As the news spread some Dhaka College students and locals put up barricade on the road and damaged the vehicles.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
