The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the United Nations Development Porgramme (UNDP) yesterday launched a new project to develop the commission's capacity to protect and promote human rights. The Tk 49 crore project titled 'Bangladesh National Human Rights Commission Capacity Development Project' will help develop capacity to undertake proper investigations, monitoring, research, public education and advocacy of human rights. Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and Korea have extended support to the project. “We have been looking forward to starting this capacity building project with the commission for a long time. I believe this project will help the commission to flourish as a key institution that can effectively help promote and protect the human rights of all, particularly the rights of vulnerable groups,” said Danish Ambassador Einar Hebogård at the launching programme at the NEC Building of ERD.
