Paikgachha UNO receives death threat

An unidentified caller, who claimed himself to be a cadre of an underground organisation, have threatened to kill the UNO of Paikgachha Md Sabur Hossain and all the members of his family. The UNO received the call on Thursday during office hours. To this end, he filed a general diary with Paikgachha Police Station seeking security of his life. OC Humayun Kabir said investigation is going on. UNO Sabur Hossain is reported to have taken stand against release of saline water in paddy land for the sake of shrimp cultivation at Paikgachha upazila. Besides, his personal relations with Upazila Parishad Chairman Rashiduzzaman and local leaders of ruling party got strained after he sided with leaders of anti-shrimp cultivation action committee last January, according to some employees of his office. The UNO could not be contacted despite several attempts over phone.
