Bangladesh envoy calls on Bhutanese PM

Bangladesh Ambassador to Bhutan AKM Majibur Rahman Bhuiyan paid farewell call on Bhutanese Prime Minister Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y Thinley on Monday afternoon. Bhuiyan is due to leave Bhutan this week to take up his new diplomatic assignment as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan. He joined the Bangladesh embassy in Bhutan in November 2009, according to a message received here yesterday. Talking to the prime minister, Majibur Rahman said his tenure in Bhutan was very important and that he is leaving Thimphu with many fond memories. Prime Minister Lyonchhoen thanked the ambassador for a fruitful cooperation and collaboration and said that many historic events and developments had taken place during his tenure in Bhutan. He pointed out that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina already visited Bhutan twice-- one for bilateral purpose and another for attending the Saarc summit. Lyonchhoen also congratulated the Ambassador on his new posting to Japan.
