Digitised libraries for digital Bangladesh
Digital Bangladesh cannot be ensured unless digital library is ensured in all government and non-government organisations in the country, said speakers at a seminar on
Wednesday.
The seminar titled “Digital library in building a digital Bangladesh,” organised by Information Science and Library Management department, was held at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate building.
“There is no alternative to establishing digital library for building a digital Bangladesh. Introducing ICT studies into school curriculum and equipping libraries in all schools and colleges with computer and internet connections can ensure a future generation educated in technology,” said Prof Nafiz Zaman Shuva of the department, says a press release.
He suggested digitising newspapers from the time of liberation war and posting those on the website of the national libraries.
"We have to prove through actions that we want to build a digital Bangladesh", said DU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique as the chief guest.
He also assured of taking some immediate measure to turn the university library into a digital one.
Prof Dr SM Mannan chaired the seminar.
