Rare mynas sent to safari park
The forest department has sent ten chicks of rare hill mynas, recovered from a shop, to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park at Cox's Bazar for medical care and temporary nurturing, said a press release yesterday.
The birds will be released in the forests of Chittagong Hill Tracts after they grow up and learn to fly in the safari park aviary.
Wildlife management and nature conservation department in a drive on Wednesday rescued the mynas from a shop in Khulna.
In a statement, Forest Conservator Tapan Kumar Dey urged all to extend cooperation to prevention of bird and wildlife trafficking.
He said drives to recover birds on illegal sale have been strengthened across the country.
