Govt urged to take steps to stop private coaching
A forum of guardians of students yesterday urged the government to take steps to prohibit teachers from running private coaching as a lucrative business, says a press release.
Under the banner -- Ovibabok Oikya Forum, they demanded implementation of the Recognised Non-Government Secondary School Teachers Terms and Conditions of Service Regulations Act 1979 that strictly prohibits private tuition and coaching activities of teachers without permission from their school authorities.
They also demanded strict action against the teachers who are violating the law, the press release added.
In a statement, the forum said: "There are also allegations that some school authorities are using their teachers to give private tuition to students and earn money in the process."
