Tk 2cr US medical equipment for DMCH department
A supply of medical equipment worth Tk 2 crore was donated yesterday to Pediatric Surgery department of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) by a charitable organisation-- Children of Abraham-- of the United States of America.
This is the largest donation of surgical instruments ever received in the history of DMCH to better serve the pediatric patients.
The sophisticated instruments include mechanical and electrical beds, microscopes, laparoscopes, colonoscopes, overhead operating lights, chair and ultrasonogram machines etc, says a press release.
Dr Ziauddin Ahmed, prof of Nephrology of Drexel University of USA and former president of DMC Alumni USA and Bangladesh Medical Association -- North America arranged the donation as part of Non Resident Bangladeshi doctors' endeavour to serve the country.
Dr Abdul Hanif Tablu, assistant professor of Pediatric Surgery, Prof Mahbubul Alam and Dr Kaniz Hasina helped obtaining the shipment.
The same organisation also provided medical equipment to Kumudini Hospital, Chittagong Medical College Hospital and Kidney Foundation of the country.
The organisation expressed its commitment to continue helping Bangladesh with medical supplies in future.
