3-yr study on South Asian water security
Three institutions of South Asia will jointly carry out a three-year study on water security and related issues that surfaced due to increasing urbanisation and global climate change.
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), Nepal Engineering College and India-based South Asia Consortium for Interdisciplinary Water Resources Studies will carry out the study on water security and adaptation in Kathmandu of Nepal, Hyderabad and Gurgaon of India and Khulna of Bangladesh.
The three institutions will form the action plan of the study by identifying the most vulnerable class to water security and technical and organisational aspects to minimise its impacts on the selected areas.
International Development Research Centre of the Canadian government has agreed to provide physical, technical and academic support for the study.
