Criminal found dead in city
Police yesterday recovered the body of a man from a manhole at Razar Deuri area in the city's Katwali.
The deceased was identified as ASM Mazharul Haque Masum, 30, son of AKM Ziaul Haq of the area.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Katwali Police Station Salahuddin told the Daily Star that sweepers found the body inside the manhole in the morning and informed police of the matter.
The body bore several injury marks, he added.
The OC said Masum was a listed criminal of the area and involved in robbery, mugging and drug peddling. He had gone into hiding for the past several years, he added.
Masum might have been killed due to internal conflict of his criminal group, OC Salahuddin said.
