Road accidents kill 4

4 people were killed and 18 others injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong and Netrakona yesterday. Our correspondent from Chittagong reports: Two people were killed and three others injured in a road accident between a bus and a truck at Sitakunda upazila yesterday. The deceased were identified as bus driver Yasin, 36, of Noakhali and truck driver Jaynal, 30, of Feni. Sources said the accident occurred when a Chittagong-bound bus collided head on with a truck near Foujderhat Cadet College on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at around 6:30am, leaving the two drivers dead on the spot and three others injured. The injured were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and the dead to the hospital morgue for autopsy. Our correspondent from Netrakona adds: Two people were killed and 15 others injured in separate road accidents at Kendua and Barhatta upazila in Netrakona district yesterday. The dead were identified as Chand Banu, 45, of Ruailbari village under Kendua upazila and Moni Akhther, 9, daughter of Khokon Mia of Dimora village under Barhatta upazila. Police said an accident occurred when a Kendua bound bus lost control over steering and fell into a roadside ditch at Gachtola, leaving Chandu dead on the spot and 15 others injured. Among the injured Mokromar Ma, Zahirul Haque, Abdul Motalib and Ruhul Bapari were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in critical condition while others were admitted to Kendua Upazila Health Complex. A case was filed with Kendua Police Station in this connection. Police confined the bus but the driver managed to flee. In another road accident a child was killed on Netrakona-Mohongonj road at Sahata under Barhatta upazila yesterday at around 8:00am. Police said Moni was crossing the road when a Mohongonj bound bus hit her, leaving her dead on the spot.
