Robber held in Ctg
Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested a robber along with Tk 5.7 lakh, out of Tk 50 lakh looted from the officials of a private bank in the city's Matuail, from port city Chittagong.
Identified as Abdus Sattar alias Kana Sattar, 40, the detained robber was taken to Dhaka yesterday. Five cell phones were also recovered from his possession.
A gang of four to five armed robbers looted Tk 50 lakh from Matuail area while the money of One Bank was being taken to its Narayanganj branch from Jatrabari branch by its manager Mahbubur Rahman and his driver in a microbus on July 11.
The bandits on two motorbikes intercepted their microbus, snatched the money and fled the scene.
DB officials said a DB team led by assistant commissioner Golam Mostofa Russell arrested Sattar from a house at Oxygen Residential Area of Chittagong city and recovered Tk 5.70 lakh from his possession.
