Five killed in road accidents

Five people including a minor girl were killed in separate road accidents in Sylhet, Natore and Bagerhat yesterday. Two cousins were killed when their motorbike was hit by a speeding bus from opposite direction at Shibpur near the Shahjibazar power station at about 5:00pm, our correspondent from Sylhet reports. The two victims-- Faisal Ahmed, 28, and Shamsul Haque, 27, -- died on the spot. The Highway police sent the bodies to the Habiganj Sadar General Hospital for post mortem. In another accident, a 4-year-old girl - Mushu - was crushed to death under the wheels of a bus while her father was parking it in front of his house at Richi of Habiganj sadar upazila at about 5:30pm. A correspondent from Natore adds: A man was crushed under the wheels of a human hauler while he was crossing the road at Bonpara Bypass Mor under Baraigram upazila at about 11:00am. The victim Abul Hasem, 40 of Bhabanipur village died instantly. Our Bagerhat correspondent says: A woman was crushed to death by a passenger bus near the Khan Jahan Ali Filling Station on the Bagerhat-Khulna road early yesterday. The deceased was identified as Aisha Begum, 50, wife of Sohrab Hossain of Khradar area in Bagerhat town. The body was handed over to the family without an autopsy. Police confiscated the bus but the driver managed to flee.
