Dhaka-Khulna rail link on the cards

Commerce Minister Faruk Khan yesterday said necessary steps would be taken to establish Dhaka-Khulna rail link after the construction of Padma Bridge. “The planned rail link will bring immense economic benefit for the people in the region,” he said while distributing zakat money among the poor people in the district. Responding to the demand of the local people, Faruk Khan said Tk 1,000 crore has been allocated for the development of greater Faridpur. The function was addressed by Upazila Chairman Rabiul Alam Sikdar, Upazila Awami League President Advocate Atiqur Rahman Mia, General Secretary Shah Akram Hossain Jafar and Organising Secretary Hafizur Rahman. A total of 15,00 destitute families were given sarees, lungis, panjabees and essential commodities. Later, the minister joined an Iftar and a doa mahfil, organised by the Upazila AL.
