President hosts Janmashtami reception
President Zillur Rahman yesterday hosted a reception to the Hindu community at Bangabhaban in the city on the occasion of holy Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Shree Krishna.
Zillur welcomed the guests at Bangabhaban and exchanged greetings with them.
Water Resources Minister Ramesh Chandra Sen and State Minister for Religious Affairs Advocate Md Shahjahan Mia were present on the occasion.
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Rajeet Mitter and Nepalese Ambassador Pradeep Khatiwada were present on the occasion.
Besides, Hindu religious personalities and community leaders including principal of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Swami Aksarananda Moharaj attended the reception.
Leaders of the Mohanagar Puja Committee Dhiresh Chandra Saha, Basudev Dhar, Joyanta Kumar Dev and Dr Arup Ratan, judges, academics, freedom fighters, journalists, lawyers, doctors, businessmen, artistes, singers, high civil and military officials and retired government officials attended the reception.
