Road accidents kill 6

At least six people were killed and 15 injured in separate road accidents in Sirajganj, Rajshahi and Dinajpur yesterday and Tuesday. UNB from Sirajganj reports: A passenger bus and another goods laden truck collided at Ruapara in Salanga thana, leaving three people killed and 15 others injured on Wednesday. Police said the Rajshahi-bound bus from Dhaka fell into a roadside ditch after collision, leaving its three passengers dead on the spot and injuring 15 others, including bus driver. One of the deceased was identified as Sukumar, 45, resident of Baraigram upazila of Natore. Identity of two other deceased could not be known immediately. The truck driver and his helper fled away leaving behind their vehicle following the accident that took place on Hatiqumrul-Banpara highway at about 2:00pm. RU Correspondent from Rajshahi reports: Two people were killed in a road accident in Rajshahi city on Tuesday night. The deceased were identified as Antaz Ali, 50, and Antaz Ali, 30, of Bakshimoil village under Paba Upazila. Locals said the accident occurred when a Rajshahi-bound bus of Ridoy Paribahan, a human hauler Leguna and truck collided on Naogaon- Rajahshi highway around 10:00pm, leaving a human hauler passenger Antaz Ali, 50, dead on the spot. Leguna driver Antaz Ali, 30, succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical Hospital. Police said vehicular movement on the highway remained suspended for about one hour as the angry people barricaded the highway demanding punishment to the bus driver. Meanwhile, police seized the bus at Talaimary interception in the city and arrested its driver Shamim and helper Raihan. Bus workers staged a demonstration at Rajshahi bus terminal demanding release of the arrestees and they suspended vehicular movement for three hours. The vehicular movement however resumed around 12:00pm after a meeting between police and bus workers. Fazlul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of Shah Mukhdoom Police Station, said a case was filed in this connection. He said the bodies have been sent to Rajshahi Medical Hospital morgue for autopsy. Our Correspondent from Dinajpur reports: At least one person was killed in a road accident at Nawabganj upazila in Dinajpur yesterday. The victim, helper of the pick-up, died on the spot remained unidentified according to the police. Police said the accident occurred when the driver of a Dhaka-bound pick-up van lost his control over the steering on Dinajpur-Bogra highway at Bhaduria Bazar.
