2 killed in road accidents

Two people, including a woman, were killed in two separate road accidents in Natore and Tangail yesterday. Our Natore correspondent reports: Runa Begum, 40, wife of Abul Hasan of Bolaripara in the town, was injured when her sari got entangled with the wheels of a battery-run auto-rickshaw at Kanaikhali. She was rushed to the district sadar hospital where doctors declared her dead. Runa was going on Eid shopping to a local market in the morning. Our Tangail correspondent adds: An unidentified microbus driver was killed and another man injured in a head-on collision on Dhaka-Tangail highway in sadar upazila yesterday. Vehicular movements on the highway were suspended for about one hour following the accident. Sergeant Mohammad Salahuddin of Highway Police said the accident occurred between a microbus from Bogra and a goods-laden truck around 3:30pm at Khudirampur, leaving the driver dead on the spot. He said a pedestrian was also injured in the incident.
