10 sugar traders fined
As part of the ongoing drive against the dishonest traders, the market monitoring teams yesterday fined 10 traders and realised Tk 110,500 as penalty on charge of selling sugar in excess of the price fixed by the government.
The monitoring teams conducted the drives at Karwan Bazar Kitchen Market, Banani Kitchen Market, Mahakhali Kitchen Market and New Market Kitchen Market and penalised retailers Siddique Store, Osman Traders, Masud Store, Saiful Store, Naresh Ganesh Store, Basan Chandra Ghosh and Sohel Store of Mahakhali Kitchen Market, Alamgir General Store and Bismillah Rice Agency at New Market Kitchen Market.
Dr Rahima, magistrate of the Dhaka district administration, realised the penalty from the traders found guilty of charging excess price of sugar.
Deputy secretaries SM Rezwan Hossain and M Ataur accompanied the magistrate during the drives.
