Man kills ex-wife, then himself
A man stabbed his ex-wife to death and took his own life within minutes at Dohar in Dhaka district on Saturday.
The deceased are Ruma Begum, 22, a domestic help at the house of Jahangir Miah at Al-Amin Bazar in the area and Sobjal, 25, a day labourer.
Police said Sobjal and Ruma were recently divorced. On the morning of Eid day, Sobjal entered Jahangir's house as the men of the family went for prayers and stabbed Ruma to death. He then went to a nearby shop and stabbed himself in the abdomen.
Locals rushed him to Dohar Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctors declared him dead.
Dohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Bashir Ahmed told The Daily Star that the couple married about a year back.
After the divorce Sobjal was mentally upset and was trying to convince Ruma to withdraw the divorce, he added.
