3 missing as boat sinks
Three people went missing when a boat capsized yesterday in the river Pashur at Mongla upazila of Bagerhat district.
The missing was identified as Shamim, 18, son of Mohammod Ali of Gopalpur village, Mohon, 15, son of Moktar Hossain of Dighirpara and Masudul Islam, 18, son of Rafiqul Islam of Khoksha of Meherpur district.
Police said the boat was on a sightseeing tour of Karomjal tourist spot with six passengers. Three of them managed to swim ashore.
The boat overturned as it was hit by rough waves of the Pashur River as the weather turned for the worse since Sunday said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Jalaluddin of Mongla Police Station.
Coastguards, Navy and police continued to search for the missing till filing of this report yesterday.
