One killed in AL feud

A man was killed and some 40 others wounded in a clash between two factions of ruling Awami League at Sadardi near Bhanga upazila yesterday morning. The deceased, Sheik Montu, 42, was son of Ratan Sheik of Sadardi. Of the injured, six were admitted to Bhanga upazila health complex. Officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam of Bhanga Police Station said the factional clash erupted around 6:00am over establishing supremacy in the area. The clash between loyal groups of AL leader Liakot Mollah, also Bhanga municipality commissioner, and AL leader Syad Ali continued for four hours, said locals. Sheik Montu died on the spot after being struck on the neck by sharp weapons. According to the locals, at least 10 houses were robbed and another six set on fire during the clash.
