Sedition case filed against six Jamaat leaders
A sedition case was filed with Debhata Police Station against six Jamaat-e-Islami leaders including Satkhira Jamaat-e-Islami's assistant secretary on Thursday night.
Abdul Bari, officer-in-charge, filed the case accusing the six leaders for planning subversive activities in the upazila.
They are Satkhira district Jamaat's Assistant Secretary Mahbubul Alam, Debhata upazila Jamaat Ameer Asaduzzaman Mukul, Shakhipur union Jamaat Secretary Ziaur Rahman Zia and Shakhipur union Jamaat leaders- Nazrul Islam, Waliul Islam and Yakub Ali.
Quoting locals, police said the accused held a secret meeting to carry out their subversive activities at Shakhipur Bazar Mosque on August 3.
Police arrested Ziaur Rahman Zia who admitted the presence of all the accused in the meeting.
The District Judicial Magistrate's Court sent Ziaur Rahman to jail yesterday after he was produced before it.
Police are trying to arrest the other accused, said Officer-in-Charge of Debhata Police Station.
