Digitised land registration soon to end hassles
Law minister tells WB team
The government is sincere to digitise land registration and deed protection systems so that people can escape sufferings and costs, Law Minister Shafique Ahmed said yesterday.
The government has already undertaken to bring qualitative changes in land registration process, said the minister during a meeting with a World Bank Group delegation at his secretariat office.
According to a law ministry press release, this ministry with WB Group will jointly prepare a project proposal soon to modernise the process.
The minister assured the delegation of providing with all cooperation in undertaking and implementing the project.
Edward C Cook, senior WB land administration expert, and Chapal Chowdhury, consultant of International Finance Corporation, represented the delegation.
Shahidul Haque, acting secretary of the legislative and parliamentary affairs of the ministry; Munshi Nazrul Islam, inspector general of registration; and Aniruddha Sengupta, representative of International Finance Corporation-Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund; were also present at the meeting.
Late yesterday, Iranian ambassador to Bangladesh, Hossein Aminian Tousi, called on the law minister and discussed issues of bilateral interest between Bangladesh and Iran, the release said.
