Exchange of experiences of armed forces stressed

President Zillur Rahman yesterday emphasised exchanging experiences and trainings between the armed forces of Bangladesh and India to achieve professional excellence by both forces. “Training is very necessary in achieving professional excellence,” he said when a team of high-level military trainees from the Indian National Defence College (NDC) called on him at Bangabhaban. Major General BS Daulta led the Indian delegation of 14 military officials with ranks equivalent to brigadier general and also civil officials. Welcoming the delegation at Bangabhaban, Zillur recalled with gratitude the historic role played by the Indian government and its armed forces during the War of Liberation in 1971. He emphasised exchanging experiences and visits between the armed forces of the two countries with a view to achieving professional excellence. Meanwhile, Indian NDC team leader General Daulta paid a courtesy call on Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral ZU Ahmed at Naval Headquarters in the city yesterday. He exchanged greetings and discussed matters of professional interest with the navy chief, said an ISPR release. Earlier, General Daulta paid a courtesy call on Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal S M Ziaur Rahman at Air Headquarters. He exchanged greetings and discussed matters of professional interest with the air chief. The Indian NDC team will also call on Chief of Army Staff and Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division and visit Bangladesh Air Force Base Zahurul Haque in Chittagong and National Defence College at Mirpur Cantonment in the city during their visit. A 13-member Indian NDC team led by Major General BS Daulta arrived in Dhaka on September 19 for a five-day visit to Bangladesh and is expected to leave Dhaka on September 23.
