Three car lifters arrested
Detective police chased down three car lifters including a young woman and recovered a microbus from their possession on Sunday night at Chowdhurypara in the capital's Ramna.
Police also recovered dried chilli dusts and cream from their possession which they use to rob passengers and snatch microbus and private cars.
The arrestees Mohammad Milon, Badal and Shilpi Akhter Dolon were residents of Jatrabari area in the capital. Their age is around 25 years and they were accomplices of ringleader Mama Khokon of Jatrabari.
A Detective Branch (DB) team of police, led by Senior Assistant Commissioner (AC) of DB Mohammad Asaduzzaman, chased down a microbus at Chowdhurypara and caught three of the gang members including the woman and recovered the victim.
Mohammad Asaduzzaman said he saw three to four persons tussling inside a microbus near Malibagh level crossing while he along with a team in a car was heading to Rampura around 7:30pm.
He added, “I asked the driver of the microbus to stop but the vehicle was speeding towards Rampura Bazar defying my signal.”
He added ringleader Khokon managed to escape the scene.
