BSF hands over 5 men to BDR

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over five men to Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Akhaura police through Akhaura Check Post on Thursday night. The youths were identified as Md Samim, 23, Masud Mia, 25, Rubel Mia, 21, Prodip Sarker, 26, and Tuton Mia, 17. They all hail from Kandapara village under Baarhata upazila of Netrakona. BDR and Akhaura police sources said the youths came to visit Masud's father-in-laws at Durgapur a few days ago. On Thursday, they went to visit Kallanpur near the Indian border. BSF took them after they had crossed the border around 9:00am, said Akhaura police. Md Haroon, sub-inspector of Akhaura Police Station, said the accused five claimed that BSF persuaded them to cross the border. However, the five men may face charges for violating boarder regulations, he added.
