All FFs to get monthly allowance

The government has planned to gradually bring all freedom fighters under monthly allowance coverage and to increase facilities for them in the future. State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Captain (retd) AB Tajul Islam said this in parliament yesterday while replying to lawmakers' queries. He said, at present, each of 1.5 lakh out of the 1.99 lakh listed freedom fighters get Tk 2000 honorium per month. The minister said the government decided to increase allowances and other benefits for freedom fighters and family members of the martyred. He said the government presently do not have any plans to prepare the list of people killed and injured by the Pakistan occupation army and their auxiliary forces like Razakars and Al-Badr. He, however, said the government would consider preparing such a list. The minister informed the House about the details of the government activities for providing benefits to the freedom fighters.
