A Dhaka court yesterday fixed October 30 for hearing on charge framing against Jamaat-e-Islami's Nayeb-e-Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee in connection with a tax evasion case. The same court asked Jamaat leader Mir Kashem Ali to appear before it the same day in a similar case. Judge (In-charge) Mohammad Ismail Hossain of the Senior Special Judge's Court passed the orders. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) filed the case against Sayedee for evading income tax on August 19 this year. In the case statement, Masuma Khatun, deputy tax commissioner of NBR, said Sayedee, former Jamaat lawmaker, evaded Tk 56.45 lakh as income tax from 2005-06 fiscal year to 2009-10 fiscal year and provided false information repeatedly to misguide the NBR. Earlier, on September 16, Sayedee was shown arrested in connection with the case, as he had already been in jail from June 29 in a case filed for hurting religious sentiment of Muslims.
