Two students killed in road accident
Two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident on Jhenidah-Kushtia highway near Srirampur village at Shailokupa upazila in Jhenidah on Wednesday night.
The deceased were identified as Titas, 20, son of Tofazzel Hossain of Padmadi village and his friend Tanvir Haq Sabuj, 20, son of Isahaq Ali of Jugipara village under Shailokupa upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a bus from the opposite direction hit them while they were trying to overtake a truck near Srirampur around 7:30pm.
Titas was crushed to death under the wheels of the bus on the spot while Sabuj succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka from Kushtia General Hospital at about 8:30pm.
Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sailkupa Police Station, said a case was filed in this connection.
The bodies were handed over to the families after post-mortem at Jhenidah General Hospital.
The driver of the bus fled from the spot after the accident.
