Four 'commit suicide' in city
Four persons, including two women, reportedly committed suicide in different parts of the city Sunday night and early yesterday.
The dead were Sarjina Sattar Rinti, 30, a homemaker; garment worker Sukla Baroi alias Ripa, 18, Morsalin Sheikh, 18, a day labourer, and medical technician Sajedur Rahman Khokan, 47.
Housewife Rinti hanged from the ceiling at her father's Phulbaria residence under Turag Police Station around 1:30am yesterday.
Police said a feud with her parents might have triggered the suicide.
Ripa Baroi hanged herself at her South Madartek house at about 10:00pm on Sunday. She used to work at a factory in Malibagh area.
Morsalin committed suicide by hanging himself at his rented house on road No 4 of Dhaka Udyan under Mohammadpur Police Station.
Police quoted his family members saying he had been sick for long and committed suicide out of frustration over his illness. Police said a quarrel with wife Ferdousi Yasmin Shoma yesterday might have led Khokan, resident of Kaola Paschimpara, to hang himself at his residence.
