10 killed, 39 injured in road accidents
Ten people were killed and 39 others injured in road accidents in Narayanganj, Sirajganj, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Natore, Thakurgaon, Chittagong, and Noakhali on Monday night and yesterday.
A Narayanganj correspondent reports: Three people were killed on the spot as their three-wheeler (locally known as Nasimon) was hit by a bus from behind on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the district yesterday. Two of the deceased are Milton, 38, and Kadir, 40, from different areas of Narsingdi.
A Correspondent from Sirajganj says: Two people were killed and 15 others injured in separate road accidents in Sirajganj on Monday night and yesterday morning. The deceased are Aslam Uddin, 35, son of Abdul Hamid of Jessore and Asha Moni, daughter of Anwar Hossain of Khokshabari village of Sirajganj.
On Monday midnight, Aslam died and 15 others got injured after their vegetable-laden truck overturned losing its control at Konabari.
Yesterday morning, Asha died on the spot after being run over by a Sirajganj-bound bus while she was crossing the road at Khokshabari.
Our Rangpur correspondent adds: A schoolteacher was killed when a Kurigram bound bus ran him over at Kounia in the district yesterday. Faruque Hossain was assistant teacher of Pollimari High School of Haragachh in Kounia.
Our Dinajpur Correspondent reports: A man was killed after being hit by a microbus on Dinajpur-Thakurgaon highway in Birganj of Dinajpur on Monday night. The deceased is Khogen Sharma, 35, son of Modhu Ram Sharma village Shantinagar of Thakurgaon.
Our Natore Correspondent says: A woman was killed after a Bogra bound bus hit her from behind on Natore-Bogra highway at Chugram Muripara of Singra in the district yesterday. The deceased, Shanti Bibi, 40, was wife of Zahidul Islam of Khajuria Ramananda village of Singra.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent says: A man was killed after his power tiller crashed into a roadside tree losing control at Kandhal village in Haripur of Thakurgaon yesterday. Ruhul Amin, 45, son of late Giash Uddin of the village, died at Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.
CU correspondent adds: A man was killed and four others injured after their CNG-run auto-rickshaw was hit by a Dohazari bound bus at Satkania in Chittagong yesterday. The deceased is Profulla Das, 50, of Kaliaish village of Satkania. The injured were taken to local health complex.
A Noakhali correspondent reports: At least 20 people including 18 students were injured after their passenger carrier (known as Maxi) veered into a roadside ditch at Kalirtek in Senbagh of the district yesterday. The injured, six in critical condition, were taken to Noakhali general hospital.
